Monthly Performance Review of Publicly Offered CII in Ukraine. December 2017

In December, Ukrainian stock market indices continued a positive trend. According to the results of the month, the PFTS index confidently added +3.55%, UX index increased by +6.08%. By results of the year, Ukrainian indices increased significantly: thus, PFTS index registered +18.82%, UX index +71.27%.

The sector of closed-end CII was the most profitable for the year (+42.04%), interval funds were in the second stage (+29.87%), open-ended CII - in the third place (+27.19%).


OPEN-ENDED FUNDS

According to the UAIB data, value of net assets of 17 open-ended CII as at 28.12.2017 amounted to UAH74.83 mln. According to the filed indicators as at the end of the previous month, the total increase of NAV amounted to +UAH 1,192.25 thsd. (+1.68%). Net inflow of assets in the sector was UAH 285.55 thsd.

According to the results of the month, only two funds recorded a negative change in the NAV, the rest ones ended the month with an increase of the indicators. In December, the range of investment funds’ rates of return varied from +11.29% to -1.11%.

Based on December results, the leaders of capital attraction in the sector of open-ended CII were:

"OTP Fond Aktsii" (+UAH 490.78 thsd. (+6.31%)) - due to the additional placement of IC (+2.88% in circulation) received UAH 228.29 thsd. of net inflow of capital;

“UNIVER.UA/Yaroslav Mudryi: Fond Aktsii” (+UAH 182.96 thsd. (+18.69%)) - due to increase in the value of assets and additional placement of 237 pieces of IC received UAH 163.29 thsd. of net inflow;

"UNIVER.UA/Taras Shevchenko: Fond Zaoshchadzhen" (+UAH 38.60 thsd. (+1.27%)) - also due to positive revaluation of NAV and attraction of investors’ assets (+0.32% of IC in circulation) received +UAH 9.77 thsd. of net inflow.

The largest payments to investors were made in December by the following funds:

"VSI" (-UAH 5.27 thsd. (-0.31%) - the largest net outflow for the month in the amount of UAH 71.05 thsd., due to the investors’ desire to fix revenue (-4.04% in circulation);

“Nadbannia” (+UAH 22.69 thsd. (+2.97%) - despite the growth of NAV, the presentation by investors to the repayment of 200 pieces of IC led to a net outflow of –UAH 19.93 thsd.;

“KINTO-Ekviti” (-UAH 33.06 thsd. (-0.68%) - received a net outflow of capital in the amount of –UAH 14.57 thsd. due to a negative revaluation of the portfolio and payments to investors (-0.31% of the IC in circulation).

The first place among the open-ended CII in terms of market share was taken by the “KINTO-Klasychnyi” fund (35.54% of aggregate NAV (UAH 26.59 mln.)), the second one was taken by the “OTP Fond Aktsii” fund (11.05% (UAH 8.27 mln.)), "Sofiivskyi” fund was the third (8.57% (UAH 6.41 mln.)). The fourth place was taken by the “KINTO-Ekviti” fund (6.41% (UAH 4.79 mln.), "UNIVER.UA/Mykhailo Hrushevskyi: Fond Derzhavnykh Paperiv" located on the honorable fifth place (5.74% (UAH 4.29 mln.)).

Among the leaders in terms of rates of return there were the following funds: "KINTO-Kaznacheiskyi" (+11.29%), "Sofiivskyi" (+6.89%) and "Nadbannia" (+5.74%).

The worst performance indicators in terms of rates of return were demonstrated in December by the following funds: “KINTO-Klasychnyi” (-1.11%) and “KINTO-Ekviti” (-0.38%).


INTERVAL FUNDS

In December the review included 5 interval CII, whose net assets, according to UAIB data, amounted to UAH18.56mln. In comparison with indicators of this sector as at the end of the previous month, the total NAV increased by +UAH 51.85thsd. (+1.61%).

According to the results of December, the largest payments were made by “Parytet” fund (+UAH 22.92 thsd. (+1.49%)) - despite the growth of NAV, the purchase of 13 securities from investors led to a net outflow of –UAH 26.25 thsd.

The range of returnsof interval funds in December varied from +4.48% to -6.81%.

The funds’ yield in December was as follows: “TASK Ukrainskti Kapital” (+4.48%), “Parytet” (+3.25%) and “Optimum” (-6.81%).


CLOSED-ENDFUNDS

The net asset value of the two closed-end CII included in the survey at the end of the month amounted to UAH 10.08 mln. According to the provided indicators, the total NAV of these funds increased by UAH 572.10 thsd. (+6.06%).

The rates of return of closed-end funds in December was distributed as follows: "Indeks Ukrainskoi Birzhi” (+6.59%) and "TASK Universal" (+1.50%).
