Monthly Performance Review of Publicly Offered CII in Ukraine. October 2021

In October, Ukrainian stock exchanges ended the month with a decline: the UX index fell by -3.25%, the PFTS index lost -0.04%.

In October, the sectors of public common investment institutions according to the rate of return "since the beginning of the year" were distributed as follows: the leader was the sector of open-ended funds +5.23% (+0.46% for the month), the second place was taken by closed-end CII +0.87% (-0.71% for the month), and interval CII were in the third place with a rate of -2.29% (-1.26% for the month).

OPEN-ENDED FUNDS

According to UAIB, the value of net assets (NAV) of 14 open-ended CII as at October 29, 2021 amounted to UAH 137.44M. According to the indicators at the end of October, the total decrease of NAV amounted to -UAH101.29k(-0.07%).

Funds of this sector ended the month mainly with rising returns, with only four funds recording a negative result. The scope for rates of open-ended CII ranged from +2.66% to -0.97%.

According to the results of October, the following funds became the leaders of growth in the sector of open-ended CII:

"OTP Fond Aktsii" (+UAH 648.07k (+4.73%)) - due to the positive revaluation of the portfolio components and due to additional placement of certificates (+5.04% in circulation) received a net capital inflow of +UAH 671.28k;

"UNIVER.UA/Yaroslav Mudryi: Fond Aktsii" (+UAH 229.36k (+2.66%)) - increase of NAV occurred due to a positive revaluation of the investment portfolio, there were no changes in net capital;

"Sofiivskyi" (+UAH 33.41k (+0.71%)) - also, the increase of NAV was solely due to the growth of the investment portfolio components, no changes of net capital were recorded.

The largest payments to investors in October were made by the following funds:

"OTP Klasychnyi" (-UAH1,089.31k (-1.30%)) - investors presented for redemption 362 units of IC (-2.10% in circulation), which led to the largest outflow of net capital in the sector in the amount of

-UAH1,755.31k;

KINTO-Kaznacheiskyi” (+UAH 37.46k (+0.82%)) - despite the positive revaluation of the investment portfolio, the redemption of a small number of investment certificates from the fund participants (-0.22% in circulation) led to a net outflow of capital in the amount of -UAH10.01k;

“VSI” (-UAH 14.31k (-0.71%)) - the change of NAV occurred solely due to a decrease of the value of the components of the investment portfolio, changes in net capital were not recorded;

The list of the main players of the sector in October was as follows:

the first place among the open-ended CII by market share was taken by the fund "OTP Klasychnyi" (60.03% (UAH 82.50M), the second place was taken by the "OTP Fond Aktsii" (26.10% of the total NAV (UAH 14.34M.)). The third place went to "UNIVER.UA/Yaroslav Mudryi: Fond Aktsii" (16.11% (UAH 8.85 M.)),  fund “KINTO-Ekviti” (9.17% (UAH 5.04M.)) was the fourth one, fund ”Altus-Deposyt” (8.87% (UAH 4.87M.)) took the honorable fifth place.

The highest level in terms of rates of return was demonstrated by the following funds:

"UNIVER.UA/Yaroslav Mudryi: Fond Aktsii" (+2.66%), "Nadbannia" (+1.83%) and "KINTO-Kaznacheiskyi" (+1.04%).

The lowest rates of change of their securities’ value in October were shown by the funds “ТАSK Resurs” (-0.97%), "VSI" (-0.71%) and "Argentum" (-0.54%).

INTERVAL FUNDS

In October, the survey included 3 interval CII, whose net assets, according to UAIB, amounted to UAH 12.10M. Compared to the indicators of this sector at the end of the previous month, the total NAV of funds decreased by –UAH 71.53k (-0.59%).

The largest payments to investors in October were made by the “Platynum” Fund (-UAH 27.21k (-0.28%)) - the redemption of a small number of investment certificates from the fund participants (-0.02% in circulation) led to a net outflow of capital in the amount of –UAH 1.79k. The remaining funds experienced a decrease of NAV due to a decrease of the value of the investment portfolio components.

Rates of return in the sector this month were as follows: "Aurum" (-2.08%), "TASK Ukrainskyi Kapital" (-1.44%) and “Platynum" (-0.26%).

CLOSED-ENDFUNDS

The value of net assets of 3 closed-end CII, which are included in the October survey, amounted to UAH 16.22 M. at the end of the month. According to the provided indicators, the total NAV of these funds decreased by –UAH 28.94k (-0.18%).

Funds' rate of return in the sector were as follows: "KINTO-Gold" (+2.69%), "Indeks Ukrainskoi Birzhi" (-0.37%) and "TASK Universal" (-4.46%).
