Monthly Performance Review of Publicly Offered CII in Ukraine. September 2021

In September, Ukrainian stock exchanges closed with a decrease: the UX index decreased by -  3.25%, and the PFTS index by -0.04%.

Sectors of CII with public issue (CII) ended the month with the following indicators: the leaders in terms of rates of return "since the beginning of the year" were open-ended funds with a rate of +5.06% (-0.08% for the month), the second place went to closed-end CII +1.80% (-2.23% for the month), and interval CII were in the third place with a rate of -1.03% (-0.63% for the month).


OPEN-ENDED FUNDS

According to UAIB, the value of net assets (NAV) of 16 open-ended CII as at 30.09.2021 amounted to UAH 178.80M. According to the indicators at the end of September, the total decrease in NAV was UAH -3,668.74k (-2.01%).

The vast majority of funds in the sector ended the month with an increase in rates, and seven funds recorded a decline. The scope for rates of open-ended CII ranged from +0.82% to -2.75%.

According to the results of September, the following funds were the leaders of growth in the sector of open-ended CII:  

KINTO-Kaznacheiskyi” (-UAH 12.34k (-0.27%)) - despite the negative revaluation of the portfolio components and due to the additional placement of certificates (+0.21% in circulation) received a net inflow of +UAH 9.82k;

"KINTO-Klasychnyi" (+UAH143.31k (+0.44%)) - the growth of NAV was solely due to the growth of components of the investment portfolio;

"UNIVER.UA/Mykhailo Hrushevskyi: Fond Derzhavnykh Paperiv" (+UAH 40.69k (+0.48%)) - the same, the growth of NAV was due to a positive revaluation of the investment portfolio.

The largest payments to investors in September were made by the following funds:

"OTP Klasychnyi" (-UAH 3,405.12k (-3.91%)) - the largest net outflow in the sector, which is associated with the purchase of a significant number of certificates from investors (-4.70% in circulation), led to an outflow of net capital in the amount of -UAH 4,116.44k;

"OTP Fond Aktsii" (-UAH 197.09 k (-1.42%)) - the redemption of a certain number of investment certificates from the fund participants (-1.57% in circulation) caused a net outflow of capital in the amount of -UAH 217.14 k.

The list of major players of the sector in September was as follows: the first place among open-ended CII by market share was taken by the fund "OTP Klasychnyi" (46.75% of the total NAV (UAH 83.59M)), the second place was taken by the  fund "KINTO-Klasychnyi" (18.30% (UAH 32.73M), the third place - by the fund "OTP Fond Aktsii" (7.66% (UAH 13.69M)). The fourth place was assigned to the fund "UNIVER.UA/Yaroslav Mudryi: Fond Aktsii" (4.82% (UAH 8.62M)), the fund "UNIVER.UA/ Mykhailo Hrushevskyi: State Securities Fund" (4.77% (8 , UAH 53M)) completed the top five leaders of the sector.

The highest level in terms of rates of return was demonstrated by the following funds:

 "OTP Klasychnyi" (+0.82%), “UNIVER.UA / Volodymyr Velykyi: Fond Zbalansovanyi” (+0.54%) and "OTP Fond Aktsii (+0.51%).

The worst indicators of changes in the value of their securities in September were in the funds: "UNIVER.UA/Yaroslav Mudryi: Fond Aktsii" (-2.75%), "VSI" (-0.77%) and "Sofiivskyi" (-0.68%).


INTERVAL FUNDS

In September, the survey included 3 interval CII, whose net assets, according to UAIB, amounted to UAH 12.18M. Compared to the indicators of this sector at the end of the previous month, the total NAV of funds decreased by -UAH 47.12k (-0.39%).

According to the results of the month, no changes in net capital were recorded in the sector, the decrease in NAV was due to a negative revaluation of investment portfolio components.

Rates of return in the sector were as follows: "Aurum" (-1.13%), "TASK Ukrainskyi Kapital"

(-0.50%) and "Platinum" (-0.26%).


CLOSED-END FUNDS

The value of net assets of 3 closed-end CII, which are included in the survey for September, amounted to UAH 16.25M at the end of the month. According to the provided indicators, the total NAV of these funds decreasedby -UAH 122.46k  (-0.75%).

According to the results of the month, no changes in net capital were recorded in the sector, the decrease in NAV was due to a negative revaluation of the components of the investment portfolio.

According to the results of September, funds' rates of return the in the sector were as follows: "Indeks Ukrainskoi Birzhi" (+0.13%), "TASK Universal" (-1.47%) and "KINTO-Gold" (-5.36%).
