Monthly Performance Review of Publicly Offered CII in Ukraine. April 2020

In April, Ukrainian stock market indices closed with a significant decrease in indicators. According to the results of the month, the UX index decreased by 8.77%, and the PFTS index decreased by 2.12%.

In April, all sectors of CII with public issue ended the month in the "red" zone. By the rate of return for a month YTD, the sectors of CII with public issue had the following breakdown of the results: open-ended funds (+1.96% (+0.30% for the mounth)), interval funds took second place (-4.36% (-0.54% for the mounth)), closed-end funds were the third (-10.57% (-1.85% for the mounth)).


OPEN-ENDED FUNDS

According to the UAIB, the value of the net assets (NAV) of 17 open-ended CII as at 30 April 2020 amounted to UAH 87.51M. According to the data provided at the end of April, the total increase of net assets amounted toUAH 946.69k (+1.11%). The volume of investments of investors in April exceeded the volume of payments, so the total net inflow of funds in the sector amounted to -UAH 434.01k.

The scope for rates of return of open-ended CII ranged from +3.05% to -1.99%.

According to the results of April, the following funds were the leaders of growth in the sector of open-ended CII:

«UNIVER.UA/Iaroslav Mudryi: Fond Aktsii» (+UAH 444.36k (+16.71%)) – increase in NAV and attraction of investors' funds (+17.73% in circulation) allowed the fund to receive UAH 460.62k;

«KINTO-Kaznacheiskyi» (+UAH 111.74k (+3.51%)) – due to the positive revaluation of investment portfolio components and an increase of 2.65% of certificates in circulation, the fund received +UAH 92.77k.

The following funds made the biggest payments to investors in April:

«VSI» (-UAH 112.85k (-5.53%)) – due to the decrease in the value of the investment portfolio components and significant payments to investors (-4.02% in circulation), the fund recorded the largest net outflow in the sector in the amount of UAH 80.87k;

«OTP Fond Aktsii» (-UAH 105.66k (-1.79%)) – redemption of investment certificates from the participants of the fund (-0.50% in circulation) led to the outflow of capital in the amount of UAH 29.86k;

«КІNТО-Klasychnyi» (+UAH 14.11k (+0.05%)) – despite the growth of NAV, the presentation to maturity of 14 certificates led to an outflow of net capital in the amount of UAH 8.74k.

KINTO-Klasychnyi» (33.06% of the total NAV (UAH 28.96M)) took the first place among the open-end CII in terms of market share, the second one was the «OTP Klasychnyi» (13.60% of total NAV (UAH 11.90M)), the third got the fund «UNIVER.UA/Myhailo Grushevskyi: Fond Derzhavnyh Paperiv» (9.18% (UAH 8.03M). Fourth place was taken by the fund «OTP Fond Aktsiy» (6.64% (UAH 5.81M), the fund «Sofiivskyi» (5.77% (UAH 5.05M)) closes the top five.

The following funds were among the leaders in terms of rate of return:

«OTP Klasychnyi'» (+3.05%), «UNIVER.UA/Myhailo Hrushevskyi: Fond Derzhavnykh Paperiv» (+2.46%) and «UNIVER.UA/Taras Shevchenko: Fond Zaoshchadzhen» (+2.16%).

The worst indicators in April were demonstrated by funds:  

«UNIVER.UA/Volodymyr Velykyi: Fond Zbalansovanyi» (-1.99%), «VSI» (-1.58%) and «OTP Fond Aktsii» (-1.29%).


INTERVAL FUNDS

In April, the review included 3 interval CII, whose net assets, according to UAIB, amounted to UAH 3.64M. Compared to the indicators of this sector at the end of the previous month, the total NAV decreased by UAH 9.89k (-0.42%).

No fund made payments to investors and did not attract their funds, so no changes in net capital in the sector were recorded.

Based on the rate of return, funds in the sector had the following breakdown of the results:  «ТАSК Ukrainskyi Kapital» (-0.96%) and «Zbalansovanyi Fond Parytet» (-0.12%).


CLOSED-END FUNDS

The net asset value of 2 closed-end CII included in April review, at the end of the month amounted to UAH 9.56M. According to the provided data, the total NAV of these funds decreased by UAH 201.41k (-25.41%).

No fund made payments to investors and did not attract their funds, so no changes in net capital in the sector were recorded.

Based on the rates of return, funds in the sector had the following breakdown of the results: «Indeks Ukrainskoi Birzhi» (-1.92%) and «TASK Universal» (-1.77%).
