Monthly Performance Review of Publicly Offered CII in Ukraine. December 2023

According to the results of the month, the PFTS index closed at zero, and the UX index decreased by -2.33%. According to the results of 2023, Ukrainian indices recorded the following indicators: PFTS -2.34%, UX index +7.65%.

According to the change in the level of rate of return, the sectors of public collective investment institutions (CIIs) were distributed as follows: in the first place are closed-end funds (+23.41% per annum), on the second step - open-ended funds (+13.20% per annum), data on the activity of interval CIIs is not enough for analysis.

 

OPEN-ENDED FUNDS

According to UAIB, the value of net assets (NAV) of 15 open-ended CIIs as at December 29, 2023 was UAH 151.70 M. According to the data provided at the end of the previous month, the total increase of the NAV amounted to +UAH 2,086.84 k(+1.39%). Changes in net capital in the sector amounted to +UAH 8.10 k.

According to the results of December, the vast majority of funds ended the month with an increase in the level of profitability, only two closed in the "red zone". The yield range of investment funds ranged from +4.97% to -1.99%.

According to the results of December, the leaders in the growth of the value of net assets (NAV) in the open-ended CII sector were:

"KINTO-Klasychnyi" (+UAH 266.17 k (+1.11%)) - the fund received an increase in NAV thanks to a positive revaluation of the components of the investment portfolio and additional attraction of investment funds (+UAH 4.88 k net capital inflow);

"KINTO-Kaznacheiskyi" (+UAH 123.61 k (+2.72%)) - likewise, due to the increase in NAV due to the growth of the fund's assets and the additional placement of investment certificates (+0.10% in circulation), the fund received +UAH 4.62 k "net".

The largest payments to investors in December were made by the "KINTO-Ekviti" fund (+UAH 29.23 k (+2.01%) - despite the increase in the value of the components of the investment portfolio, the redemption of 3 pieces of IC from investors led to an outflow of net capital in the amount of - UAH 1.40 k;

The first place among open-ended CIIs in terms of market share was taken by the "OTP Klasychnyi"  fund (48.89% of the total NAV (UAH 74.16 M )), the second step - the "KINTO- Klasychnyi" fund (16.04% of the total NAV (UAH 24.34 M )), the third was the fund "OTP Fond Aktsii" (6.48% (UAH 9.82 M)). The fourth place was taken by the fund "UNIVER.UA/Yaroslav Mudryi: Fond Aktsii" (6.12% (UAH 9.29 M), the honorable fifth place was occupied by "UNIVER.UA/Mykhailo Hrushevskyi: Fond Derzhavnykh Paperiv" (4.48% (UAH 6.79 M )).

Among the leaders in terms of profitability, the following funds stood out: "UNIVER.UA/Yaroslav Mudry: Fond Aktsii" (+4.97%), "Sofiivskyi" (+3.00%) and "VSI" (+2.82%).

The lowest indicators of profitability in December were in the funds "OTP Fond Aktsii" (-1.99%) and "Nadbannia" (-0.01%).


INTERVAL FUNDS

In December, the provided data was not enough, which made it impossible to conduct a comparative analysis of the activity of interval CII.

 

CLOSED-END FUNDS

The value of the net assets of two closed-end CIIs, which are included in the review, amounted to UAH 7.22 M at the end of the month. According to the provided indicators, the total NAV of these funds increased by UAH 123.06 k (+1.73%).

Return on investment of closed-end funds in December was the following: "Indeks Ukrainskoi Birzhi" (+7.92%) and "KINTO-Hold" (+6.32%).
